    Formulas

     As people are weary of downloading file posts from other users (fearing viruses etc.) I think what we'll try is posting the formulas to the forums as text. If there turns out to be interest in it, I can always take the text, create the formulas from them and post them to the download area.

     If you'd like to post a formula, probably the easiest way is to go to your MrNFL (or OfficePool or CFB) folder and look for the formula. It will have the formula name and a .FLA extension (like Default.fla) - right click it and select "Open With..." (or Just Open) and then select Notepad.

     In Notepad you'll just have something that looks like this

    4.5,4,8,.8,50,50,4,50,50,0,4,0,0,0

     Select Edit->Select ALL, then Edit->Copy (or CTRL-A, Ctrl-C), cope to the site and use CTRL-V or right click and select Paste to paste the formula into a post.

    This one has been working very well in the College program so far.  39-19-1 through week 4, and I'm pretty sure it was 12-5 this past week.

     4.5,3,8,.9,63,37,4,61,39,0,8,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0

    To make it even easier for you:  Rolling Average 4, min 3, max 8, home field 4.5, offense 63, defense 37, rushing 61, pass 39, turnover 8, multiplier .9

     Plug in those with no "limits".  Good Luck

    Is it typical after extensive testing and finding a high winning % formula that once implemented it will start a losing trend to bring the %'s back down to normal levels?  I'm struggling with finding a consistent NFL formula.

    You and me both!  None of my NFL systems have proven very profitable so far.  I'm having much more success with the college program so far.  I'm still plugging in numbers and switching around stuff, but haven't found a decent NFL system just yet.

    First let me say that my forum name is at least ironic, or perhaps wishful thinking. As far as I know my sports investment broker is thriving. I have been using this software for a number of years and I had a very good run for several years...thought I had found the holy grail or something...and I was doing some damage to the book, enough that he started following my plays. That all ended a few years ago and I haven't got on the winning track since. I only do NFL and I am still trying to get that elusive consistent winning formula. I define consistent as a formula that will produce an average profit of 10 units per season over 10 consecutive seasons, and since the bankroll is 20 units the formula can never get below -19 units. When I got the software I spent a lot of time devising and back-testing various formulae and the best one is called newgold.fla and it is posted somewhere on this site. As I say, after a really good run it petered out a few years ago and so I have lost confidence with it - and without confidence you can't profit...even if you have good picks you will find ways to lose. I think I have back tested every formula offered on this site and I haven't found any that come close over a stretch of 10 years...but hope springs eternal as they say so I am carrying on with my research.

    My plan now is to work on a consensus approach. If I can find a few more formulae that deliver moderately good results with no total collapses then I can run them in consensus mode. Various combinations can be back-tested and perhaps that along with a good staking scheme can deliver results.
